Women’s bantamweight action returns to the UFC on June 15, 2013 as Canadian bantamweight slugger Alexis Davis will lock horns with France fighter Rosi Sexton in the first-ever UFC trip to Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The pair will make their Octagon debut in front of thousands inside the MTS Centre and one thing’s for sure, this is going to be a barn burner!
Davis has fought the who’s who of women’s mixed martial arts competition and is as seasoned as she gets with her last two victories coming by way of submission under the Invicta FC banner. Those two last victories earned herself submission and fight of the night honors.
Davis is known as a durable fighter that can take lots of punishment. She can also dish some out herself. Her last loss came to the hands of fellow Canadian Sarah Kaufman. The two came ready for war and dished out intense punishment but it was Kaufman who left with the majority decision win. It was one of the most entertaining women MMA bouts of all time.
On Feb 12, 2013 it was announced that Alexis Davis has been signed to the UFC and what better way than to be featured on the UFC’s Manitoba debut card which is headlined by two former champs, Rashad Evans and Dan Henderson.
Rosi Sexton is currently riding a three-fight win streak herself and has been featured in promotions like BodogFIGHTS and Bellator. Sexton will move up in weight to make her UFC debut in Winnipeg.
Nicknamed “The Surgeon” for a reason, Sexton will look to impose her will and execute a picture perfect game plan for Davis on June 15. Sexton holds a PhD in Theoretical Computer Science and has a mathematics degree. Will she be able to solve the problem that is Alexis Davis? Only time will tell.
