The 2013 de NASCAR Nationwide Series will be aired live on Motors TV! Nationwide is the ideal stage for up-and-coming stock car drivers to cut their teeth and gain exposure in front of the Sprint Cup decision makers, often forming part of a triple header of oval track competition when it joins the Cup and Camping World Truck series weekender.  .

Nationwide's origins date back to the 1950s, when it was a regional series for older model cars. The championship we know today was created in 1982 as the Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series, and in that season the title was won by the legendary Dale Earnhardt. The series was now well on its way with the cars raced only slightly older than what was being campaigned in the top-tier Winston Cup. Then as now, the series was a showcase for new drivers, but it also represented a way for established names to gain more track time and bring new sponsors into the sport. …  The Late Model became the Busch Series in 1984 and was then renamed the Nationwide Series in 2008.

NASCAR drivers can no longer compete in both series
The series' schedule is nearly identical to that of the Sprint Cup, and some rounds see a clutch of top division drivers competing in the Saturday races. However this created controversy, with many first-line drivers stealing the thunder of the newcomers, who subsequently found it hard to make a name for themselves. For 2011 NASCAR ruled that drivers can no longer compete for the title in both series and would have to declare their intentions before the start of the season.

Four constructors participate in the Nationwide Series: Chrysler (with the Dodge Charger and Challenger), Ford (Fusion and Mustang), Chevrolet (Monte-Carlo SS and Impala) and Toyota (Camry). Since 2011 the series has featured a version of the "Car of Tomorrow".

Elliott Sadler and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in a league of their own
The list of former champions and race winners is a stock car racing whose who. The 1990’s was a golden era with drivers such as Bobby Labonte (1991) and Joe Nemechek (1992) taking the title. Labonte went on to win the Winston Cup in 2000. But when Dale Earnhardt Jr. arrived everything changed: the son of legend Dale Earnhardt Sr., took over as the fan favourite won the 1998 and 1999 titles, bringing national and international attention to the division. After he moved up to the Sprint Cup, Earnhardt Jr. often returned to the second division for the super speedway races at Daytona and Talladega. The 2000 -2010 era is remembered for a near domination by the NASCAR Stars (titles for Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch). In 2007, only Jason Leffler managed to take a race win in a season that was dominated by what were known as ‘Busch Wackers’.

The past two years have nearly been identical. Each time, the Sprint Cup drivers won a majority of the races (8 for Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards in 2011 and 9 for Joey Logano in 2012), but the battle for the championship came down to a duel between Ricky Stenhouse JR. and Elliot Sadler (10 wins between them in 2012). Even more surprising is the fact that title contender Sadler had both his titles hopes ruined by crashes at Phoenix, the penultimate race of the season and thus Stenhouse Jr. won both championships.  NASCAR Nationwide Series most popular driver, Danica Patrick ran the full 2012 schedule, taking four top 10 results and finished 10th in the points. A decent performance, but she never showed true consistency and did have her share of bad luck.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series is among the leaders in American motor racing and rest assured the High Speed Television Channel will air all the action from the 2013 season! American motor racing will take centre stage on the High Speed Television Channel in 2013. In addition to live coverage of the Nascar Nationwide Series, Motors TV will air live coverage of the 2013 Grand Am season and the ALMS.
