(SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS) - Welterweight Andre Berto (Winter Haven, Fla.) arrived in San Antonio this afternoon for his July 27th match-up with Jesus Soto Karass at the AT&T Center. Berto and his team broke training camp on Monday following seven weeks of preparation in the Bay Area. The former two-time World Champion is stepping into the ring for the first time with a new coach in his corner, 2011 Trainer of the Year Virgil Hunter, and he's looking forward to his first fight of 2013.

"We had a tremendous training camp for this fight, and I am ready to put on a great show for all the fans on July 27. My new team took me out of comfort zone, which is something that I needed. It was a very technical training camp and helped remind me who I am as a fighter and everyone will see those skills when I step into the ring on Saturday night," Berto said. "Make sure to come out to the AT&T Center or tune in on SHOWTIME because it's going to be a hell of a card."

Berto is returning to the ring for the first time since November when he faced off with Robert Guerrero in a fight of the year candidate. The 29-year-old Haitian Olympian relocated to the Los Angeles area in January and completed his full preparation for the upcoming fight in northern California with Hunter and his team. Hunter and Berto, who have known each other since Berto's early amateur days, began working together in late spring.

Saturday's fight will be Berto's second in the Lone Star State and his first since a fifth round knockout win over James Crayton in El Paso in 2006. The 29-year-old Berto is looking forward to competing in front of the great fight fans in San Antonio, which has become one of the great hotbeds for the sport. He got a taste of the fantastic boxing atmosphere after traveling to San Antonio at the end of May for the press conference and enjoyed all the fans that he got the opportunity to meet at the event.

The first Haitian Olympian in the sport of boxing, Berto has built an extensive professional resume, winning both the WBC and IBF welterweight belts in his eight years in the paid ranks. Known for his combination of lightning-quick hand speed and thunderous power, Berto's fights have become must watch TV. With the new skills he has added to his arsenal of the last seven weeks, Berto plans to start a new winning streak on Saturday night.

"Knockout Kings II," featuring former Two-Time Welterweight World Champion Andre Berto facing tough Mexican veteran contender Jesus Soto Karass in a 12-round main event for the vacant NABF Welterweight Championship, takes place Saturday, July 27 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. The event is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Leija & Battah Promotions and sponsored by Corona and AT&T. In the 12-round co-featured attractions, Weslaco, Texas' undefeated rising star Omar Figueroa Jr. squares off against Tokyo's Nihito Arakawa for the vacant WBC Interim Lightweight World Championship in a fight promoted in association with Teiken Promotions and undefeated power-puncher Diego Chaves faces fellow unbeaten knockout artist Keith Thurman for Chaves' WBA Interim Welterweight World Championship in a fight promoted in association with KO International. The tripleheader will be broadcast live on SHOWTIME® at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT and will be available in Spanish via second audio programming (SAP).

The UFC announced on Wednesday that two matches rumored for its next FOX prime time show are now official. A Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson flyweight title defense against John Moraga, and a women's fight between two recent Ronda Rousey victims, with Miesha Tate facing Liz Carmouche.

The company had been looking at getting both fights on the July 27 show at the Key Arena in Seattle, with the only holdup being medical clearance as Johnson underwent surgery on his right shoulder due to a torn labrum, while Tate was banged up in her loss on April 13 to Cat Zingano.

Both fights were officially made for the main card. While not official, it would appear the full lineup is now intact because two network-caliber fights had already been announced for the show, a pair of welterweight fights with top contenders Jake Ellenberger vs. Rory MacDonald and the final Strikeforce champion, Tarec Saffiedine, facing Robbie Lawler.

Both fights have local flavor, as Johnson fights out of Matt Hume's gym in nearby Kirkland, Wash., while Tate currently lives in Takoma, Wash.

Johnson (17-2-1) headlined a successful FOX show on Jan. 26 when he won a five-round decision over John Dodson. He was scheduled to face Moraga (13-1) in the main event of the April 13 show in Las Vegas, when he went down with the injury. Moraga is 2-0, entering UFC after the introduction of the 125-pound division, coming off a first-round knockout of Ulysses Gomez, followed by a third-round submission over Chris Cariaso.

Moraga was a member of the Arizona State Wrestling team, wrestling at 125 and 133 pounds, with current UFC stars Cain Velasquez, Ryan Bader and C.B. Dollaway, giving him a stronger pedigree in that sport than the champion whose wrestling and speed have been his strong points.

Tate vs. Carmouche was first talked about publicly on Tuesday night by MMAFighting.com reporter Ariel Helwani, on UFC Tonight, and at the time was only awaiting Tate's ability to get medically cleared.

Tate (13-4) is coming off losing in a fight of the year candidate battle with Cat Zingano on April 13 in Las Vegas with heavy stakes. A a win would have gotten her a coaching gig on the fall season of Ultimate Fighter and a pay-per-view main event in December against Rousey. Tate, a former Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion, dropped her belt via armbar to Rousey on March 3, 2012, in Columbus, Ohio. The match has been often talked about as the impetus in Dana White making the decision to invest heavily in women's MMA, something he had been negative on for years.

Carmouche (8-3), garnered a tremendous amount of publicity for being in the first-ever women's fight in UFC history, losing to Rousey on Feb. 23 in Anaheim, Calif. Through her endless work in promoting the fight, and how she came off on the three UFC Primetime episodes building the fight, the formerly unknown Carmouche became one of the most talked about fighters in the company.

The Claret Jug will be up for grabs this week at Muirfield, and it’ll be interesting to see if one of the top contenders is able to capture it come Sunday afternoon.

Winning a major tournament can do wonders for a golfer’s legacy, and having the opportunity to walk around with this for an entire year probably isn’t too bad either (h/t the official Twitter account for The Open Championship):

So, which of the top-ranked players in the world should you keep an eye on throughout this week and weekend in Scotland?

Here’s a prediction of where some of the biggest names in golf will finish in The Open Championship, with analysis on how they’ve done at the tournament in the past and what needs to happen in order for them to win.

Rory McIlroy:
Rory McIlroy has won two of the four major championships in his career, but he’s never had the chance to hoist the Claret Jug. Since finishing third at St. Andrews back in 2010, it’s been downhill ever since at The Open Championship. In 2011, he tied for 25th place. Last year, McIlroy finished in a tie for 60th.

While McIlroy hasn’t been cut from any of the PGA events he’s played in this year, he's missed three cuts in his last three tournaments on the European Tour, including the Irish Open just under three weeks ago. Since finishing in the top 10 at The Players Championship back in May, he’s yet to place in the top 40 at an official PGA Tour event. That includes the U.S. Open, where he was 14 over through four rounds.

In order to win his third major, Rory has to be better on par threes (93rd on Tour) and fives (71st). He’s the ninth-best on the tour at making birdie or better on par fours. He only makes birdie or better on par threes 12.88 percent of the time and 41.8 percent of the time on par fives. Making birdies on those holes are his key to victory this week.

Justin Rose:
Aside from getting cut at The Players, Justin Rose has had a near-perfect season. He won the U.S. Open a few weeks ago and has five top-10 finishes. He’s also finished in the top 25 of every event that he wasn’t cut at. He shot six under and finished in a tie for 13th place at the Travelers Championship, his most recent PGA Tour event.

You have to go back quite a few years to find the last time Rose played very well at The Open Championship. For those who don’t remember, Rose hit about a 50-yard shot from the rough on the last hole to finish tied for fourth in 1998 when he was 17 years old. He’s been cut from the championship in two of the last three years.

While Rose has been successful in 2013, he has to capitalize on the shorter holes. He has only made birdie or better on par threes 9.56 percent of the time, which is the 172nd best on the PGA Tour. He’s the best on par fives, though, as he makes birdie or better on 57.14 percent of the holes. It’s the short ones that kill him.

Graeme McDowell:
Graeme McDowell has been nonexistent at major tournaments this season. That’s surprising considering how well he played at the four tournaments in 2012. Last year, he finished in the top five twice and in the top 12 all four times. In 2013, he’s failed to play the weekend at the Masters and the U.S. Open.

In fact, McDowell hasn’t made the cut at any PGA Tour even since the RBC Heritage in late April, which he won in a playoff. Early in the season, it appeared that it would be a good year for the Northern Ireland native. He placed in the top 10 in four of the first six events he played in 2013. Since, it’s been a disaster for McDowell.

The 2010 U.S. Open champion placed tied for fifth last year at The Open Championship, a year after getting cut. His biggest problem this season has been hitting greens. He ranks 151st on the PGA Tour in GIR percentage at 62.5 percent. If you don’t hit the green, it’s tough to make birdies. Without those, it’s tough to win.

The preliminary card will be streamed live on InvictaFC.com on fight night, beginning at 7 p.m. ET with the main card beginning at 8 p.m. ET. This will be Invicta's second (official) pay-per-view (PPV) event. Canadian fans will also be able to view the preliminary card action on The Fight Network.

Headlining the main event will be a thrilling featherweight rematch pitting former Strikeforce women's featherweight champion Cris Cyborg against former Strikeforce womens' bantamweight champion Marloes Coenen. Cyborg won the first meeting, but the third round TKO was the longest fight she's had in the last seven years. Coenen enters the bout riding a two fight winning streak including a victory headlining the inaugural Invicta event last April.

Also on tap will be a number one strawweight contender fight between unbeaten grapplers Claudia Gedalho of Brazil (9-0) and Japan's Ayaka Hamasaki (9-0). The winner will face Invicta FC 115 pound champion Carla Esparza, who had to withdraw from the event due to injury.

And don't forget former champion Jessica Penne is in action as well as a potential top bantamweight contender match between Lauren Taylor and Sarah D'Alelio which could have UFC implications.

Our complete main card preview and predictions (part two) are posted below:

145 lb. title: Marloes Coenen (21-5) vs. Cris Cyborg (11-1 1NC)

Coenen has long been considered a staple of the women's featherweight division, hearkening back to when she won the Remix World Cub single night tournament in 2000. "The Golden Girl of Golden Glory" has competed all around the world starting in Japan, then Holland and most recently has competed in the United States where she battled Cyborg for the first time and eventually dropped a weight class to take home the Strikeforce bantamweight title. Since losing her belt, she's made a serious effort to get bigger and stronger for the Cyborg rematch.

Cyborg is without a doubt the scariest woman in mixed martial arts today. She burst onto the scene by obliterating everyone in her path, slicing through their defenses like butter and completely overwhelming every opponent with pure offense and power. She even finished the durable Coenen in a 2010 title defense but then things went awry when she tested positive for steroids following a 16 second drubbing of Hiroki Yamanaka. She returned from suspension and debuted with Invicta, defeating Fiona Muxlow via violent first round TKO.

Coenen is bigger, stronger and more capable of a fighter than the first time these two met, but she still shouldn't stand in front of Cyborg and trade. That's just asking for trouble. Instead, she should work from distance, try to score with some jabs and kicks on the outside and let Cyborg tire herself out with her insane aggression. Cyborg is all about power and she'll do whatever she can to connect against Coenen and finish her quickly because her gas tank looked pretty limited against Muxlow. If Coenen can drag this fight into the later rounds, I can definitely see her taking advantage of the powerful Brazilians conditioning and I actually am in the minority that believes she can pull this off and play spoiler to the Ronda Rousey superfight speculation.

Final Prediction: Marloes Coenen via submission in round four

115 lbs.: Claudia Gadelha (9-0) vs. Ayaka Hamasaki (9-0)

Gadelha is a bit of a wildcard. She was supposed to make her Invicta debut fighting for the title earlier this year but couldn't make it to the show and was replaced by Bec Hyatt. She's a competent ground fighter although her strength of competition is lacking. She fought this past May in Brazil, scoring a decision victory to move to 9-0 overall but still lacks that signature win.

Hamasaki actually competed in Invicta already, showcasing excellent wrestling and top control against Lacey Schuckman. More impressively, she still went for the finish when she could have rode out a decision, scoring an armbar with 15 seconds left in the bout. She's been the Jewels 115 pound champion for nearly three years now and has defended the belt three times in Japan, proving herself consistently.

Both women want this fight to go to the ground, and I assume that Gadelha will be a bit more comfortable off of her back due to her Brazilian jiu-jitsu prowess. Hamasaki is very powerful in terms of wrestling, top control, patient ground and pound and she does a great job of wearing down opponents and eventually overwhelming them. I think Gadelha will put up a fight but Hamasaki eventually is too much for her to handle.

Final Prediction: Ayaka Hamasaki via unanimous decision

135 lbs.:P Sarah D'Alelio (7-3) vs. Lauren Taylor (6-0)

D'Alelio made a big impact in the Invicta cage, particularly her incredible finish of veteran Vanessa Porto in her second appearance with the promotion. This earned her a huge fight against Shayna Baszler where she came up short. Undeterred, she returned to the cage and scored another huge victory, this time over UFC bantamweight Amanda Nunes via unanimous decision. She's one of the best women at 135 and is hoping to take that next step to UFC if she can keep it up.

Taylor has an incredible background story dealing with a broken home and serious drug problems up in Alaska but she found an outlet in mixed martial arts and has been absolutely torching her opponents. She took a tremendous step up in competition in her last bout, battling veteran Kaitlin Young and winning the final two rounds to take home a unanimous decision, by far the biggest win of her career. She's still a bit new to the game but has proven she belongs.

Taylor is extremely aggressive and will try to knock D'Alelio's head off on the feet and also try to beat her up on the ground. It will be easier said than done as D'Alelio possesses some very potent wrestling and while she's a bit stiff on the feet, she makes her strikes count once she's on top. D'Alelio is an awkward fighter to prepare for and is going to give Taylor all she can handle, but I've quickly become a believer in the Alaskan transplant.

Final Prediction: Lauren Taylor via unanimous decision

125 lbs.: Leslie Smith (5-3-1) vs. Jennifer Maia (7-2-1)

Smith won everyone's hearts in her Invicta debut with her "Fight of the Year" contender against Kaitlin Young. In the rematch, she showcased her huge improvements and finished the veteran in the second round. She continued to evolve, winning a decision against Raquel Pennington which earned her a massive fight against former Strikeforce bantamweight champion Sarah Kaufman. Smith gave Kaufman all she could handle, nearly finishing her in the second round but despite many thinking she won the bout, she found herself on the losing end of a split decision. Now, she's dropping down to flyweight to test her mettle in a number one contender bout.

Maia hasn't put on the big performances like Smith, fighting at a more workman-like rate in Brazil. She won all the fights she was supposed to in Brazil, primarily via submission, but every time she stepped up in competition against the likes of Sheila Gaff or Vanessa Porto, she came up short. That streak came to an end in her Invicta debut against former Bellator champion Zoila Gurgel where she repeatedly backed her opponent into the fence and scored with a pressure-based striking attack to take home a decision. Now, she's potentially fighting for number one contender against Smith.

The big difference here is that Smith is a no-nonsense brawler on the feet and also very capable on the ground. Look for her to really try to turn the pace up a notch as she possesses an unbelievable gas tank and can throw out a high volume striking attack for 15 straight minutes. Maia will likely try to slow her down by clinching, maneuvering her towards the cage or working for takedowns, but I just don't see her forcing Smith to fight her own fight. Smith is too competent all-around and she's getting better every time we see her fight.

Final Prediction: Leslie Smith via TKO in round two

105 lbs.: Jessica Penne (10-2) vs. Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc (8-6)

Penne is a tremendous athlete, Training out of Reign MMA, she showcased extreme flexibility, powerful ground and pound and a very versatile submission attack in her 12 fight career thus far. She was a bit lost fighting outside her weight class but a drop down to atomweight was exactly what the doctor ordered and she managed to score significant victories over Lisa Ellis and then number one ranked Naho Sugiyama to capture the Invicta 105 pound title. She was unable to defend the belt, losing via fourth round armbar to Michelle Waterson, but she's extremely motivated to come back strong.

Rivera-Calanoc is out to prove she's not just a pretty face. The veteran has had trouble stringing wins together but she possesses a pretty competent wrestling game and is not afraid to take some risks. She participated in perhaps the greatest staredown in MMA history against Felice Herrig, but was not able to capitalize and actually win the fight. She was in control of Amy Davis in her Invicta debut but was surprisingly submitted in the second round. She bounced back by defeating Angelica Chavez via unanimous decision in her most recent performance. She's got the opportunity of a lifetime this weekend.

While Rivera-Calanoc is extremely motivated and keeps good company in upcoming UFC title challenger Miesha Tate, I just don't think she can hang with Penne on a technical level. Penne is absolutely ferocious, capable of utilizing her length to great effect and her use of elbows and ground and pound is fantastic. Look for Penne to try and quickly close the distance, catching Rivera-Calanoc in her web and then wrap her up in something nasty to force a tap.

Money in the Bank quickly developed into one of the year's most intriguing shows. Two superstars earn a contract to get a shot at one of the main titles, which usually leads to a sustained push and, eventually, a championship reign.

Things are a little bit different this year, though. The WWE title match features a star-studded group of contenders, including the return of Rob Van Dam. The other match will showcase some rising stars. Most are still progressing up the proverbial ladder.

While those matches should steal the spotlight, there are a couple other key battles on tap. John Cena defends the WWE Championship against Mark Henry, and Dolph Ziggler attempts to get the World Heavyweight Championship back from Alberto Del Rio.

Let's take a glance at the key viewing information for the pay-per-view, the match card along with a preview and some predictions for Money in the Bank.

Last night's (June 24, 2013) episode of Monday Night Raw from North Charleston, South Carolina, featured the continuation of the McMahon family nonsense overrunning absolutely anything that has to do with or anything backstage or really anything involving the announcing of a match.

That's why no one batted an eye when Stephanie McMahon showed up, shamed Vickie Guerrero, and promptly announced the seven participants in the WWE championship Money in the Bank ladder match set for the pay-per-view (PPV) of the same name on Sun., July 14, 2013, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

They are:

  • CM Punk
  • Daniel Bryan
  • Randy Orton
  • Rob Van Dam
  • Kane
  • Sheamus
  • Christian

All former champions with impressive resumes, as the WWE.com match preview post points out:

With its seven participants accounting for 12 WWE Title reigns and 19 Money in the Bank outings combined, the veritable all-star lineup of this year's WWE Championship Contract contest makes the bout among the most loaded and intriguing Money in the Bank Ladder Matches of all time. To find out which Superstar will rise about the rest and leave Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center with a guaranteed title contract, don't miss Money in the Bank when it airs live on pay-per-view Sunday, July 14, at 8 ET/5 PT. Still a bit of an odd line-up, though, all things considered. Kane feels out of place, though he has extensive history with Rob Van Dam, who is making his big return to the company at this show. Sheamus also feels out of place considering the storylines he's been involved with of late. The same can be said of Christian, though that explains why they were rubbing elbows on Raw.

Bryan and Orton make sense considering their characters and current situations, as does Punk. This looks like a prime spot for Bryan to win to set up his run at the WWE title, and that would be a really big deal considering the star power in this match.

We shall see.

Here's the updated Money in the Bank match card and line-up:

- John Cena vs. Mark Henry (WWE championship)
- WWE Title MITB Ladder Match (Punk vs. Bryan vs. Orton vs. Kane vs. Sheamus vs. RVD vs. Christian)

Leigh Halfpenny missed a last minute penalty from long range as Australia clinched a 16-15 victory over the British and Irish Lions in the second Test in Melbourne, levelling the series at 1-1 and setting up a decider in Sydney next week.

What a scrappy match lacked in quality it made up for in late drama with Adam Ashley-Cooper scoring a converted try five minutes from time to give the Wallabies a wafer-thin one-point lead in front of a record 56,771 crowd at the Docklands Stadium.

The Lions, who were chasing a first Test series win since 1997 after Kurtley Beale's missed kick in Brisbane last week gave them a 23-21 victory in the first match, stormed back at the home side in the last five minutes.
In echoes of Australia lock Justin Harrison's decisive intervention in the third Test of the 2001 series, though, flanker Liam Gill snared Lions ball at a line-out close to the home line which looked destined for a catch and drive.

The Lions, and referee Craig Joubert, were not done yet, however, and another in a long string of penalties awarded by the South African whistler gave Halfpenny the chance of a sixth three-pointer of the night and a place in Lions' history.

The Welsh full-back, all but flawless in his kicking on tour so far, approached the ball with his usual calm but it soon became clear it would not have the legs to carry and Australian celebrations broke out around the stadium.

"We certainly made it hard for ourselves at times, but in the end we had the guts to dig it out and the kick at the end was a replay of last week except it was switched around," said Wallabies skipper James Horwill.
His Lions counterpart Sam Warburton was disappointed to be on the losing side but said there was all to play for.

"There's still a Test series up for grabs, by no means is it over," he added.
"We have a very determined bunch of players, the ambition going into this game was huge and it will be even bigger going into next week, so it sets it up for a great finale."

Lions coach Warren Gatland was frustrated that his side had failed to manage the game when they were leading 15-9 going into the closing stages."We were pretty comfortable at half-time but they never give up and it went their way," he added. "We weren't smart enough and didn't look after the ball well enough."
A scrappy first half was dominated by the rulings of Joubert and the kicking of Halfpenny and Wallabies centre Christian Leali'ifano. As the Lions had predicted, Joubert's rulings at the breakdown punished Australia in the early exchanges, with the Lions winning successive penalties for holding on to the ball in the tackle.

Halfpenny hit the crossbar with the first from 48 metres and the second was booted into touch for the Lions to launch two big driving mauls towards the home line, which the Wallabies could only collapse.
The second time Halfpenny took the points but the Lions were having less joy with Joubert's zero tolerance policy in the set scrum and Leali'ifano levelled the score in the 17th minute when Mako Vunipola was penalised for his binding.
Vunipola was again the guilty party at the next scrum - Joubert telling him to keep his head and shoulders up - and Leali'ifano put the Wallabies 6-3 up.

The next scrum came courtesy of a Vunipola knock on but the England prop rectified his position and it was the Wallabies who were penalised, Halfpenny converting from 43m after 27 minutes.

Again it was the scrum that led to the fifth penalty of the contest, which Halfpenny despatched, but Leali'ifano tied matters up again three minutes before the break after flanker Dan Lydiate was penalised for offside.
Halfpenny still had time to send the Lions into the break with a 12-9 lead when Lydiate's opposite number Ben Mowen transgressed at the breakdown and the Welshman slotted the ball through the posts from wide.
There was little more cohesion in the scoreless first 15 minutes of the second half but the Lions looked more and more comfortable and the Wallabies more and more desperate.

Lions winger George North summed up the physical effort of the tourists when being tackled by his opposite number Israel Folau on the hour mark, hoisting the former rugby league international into the air and running forwards with him on his shoulder in an incredible moment that will go down in Lions folklore.

After the race was first postponed, and pushed back form Saturday night to Sunday at Noon, We saw a race filled with cautions, and even saw a big wreck which red flagged the race.

Jimmie Johnson would put on a show at Kentucky, leading most of the race.

Unfortunately for the 48 though, he would have issues on a late race caution, and would lose his huge lead.

Johnson wasn't the only driver to stumble though. Keselowski would get caught up in the big wreck, and dropped out of the top 10 in the standings.

Denny Hamlin hit the wall, and was shaken up a bit after getting out of his car. He continues to struggle to make it into the Chase, and at this point, needs to win his way into the post season.

Kenseth and the 20 team would take a big gamble and take no tires during the last pit stop, and would have enough left for him to end up in victory lane.

Kenseth has won four races this season, and has been one of the top drivers on the oval tracks like Kentucky this season.

As NASCAR moves closer to the Chase, it's hard to deny that Matt and the 20 teams are solid contenders for the championship.

Thanks for following the race along with us here on the Bleacher Report. Join us next week as we cover the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona!
